Mattawan Family Eye Care

Dr. Alli Richardson

Dr. Alli Richardson joined Mattawan Family Eye Care in July 2023, and is proud to be joining Dr. Seim in providing patients with high quality eye care.

Dr. Richardson graduated from Purdue University in 2018 with a Biology degree specializing in Health and Disease. She continued her education at the Indiana University School of Optometry, where her passion for providing eye care for patients of all ages grew. At IU, she was particularly interested in pediatric eye care, binocular vision, and vision therapy. She was one of the founding members of the Pediatric Optometry Club at IU. She had plans to go on a mission trip with a few other students to do vision screenings in Jamaica – in March 2020. That didn’t quite go as planned!

After graduating from IU in 2022, she was eager to continue her education in pediatrics. Shortly after, she migrated from Indiana to Michigan to pursue a pediatric and binocular vision residency at Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University. After living in Indianapolis her whole life, she felt ready for a change. She fell in love with the state of Michigan and is beyond excited to stay and continue providing eye care to West Michigan at Mattawan Family Eye Care!

Dr. Richardson is dedicated to providing the highest quality eye care and pursuing excellence for patients of all ages. She is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Michigan Optometry Association. She became a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) in October 2023 and plans to get her fellowship with the College of Optometrists in Vision Development to show her commitment to staying current with scientific literature and providing new ways to help her patients.

From treating eye diseases and emergencies to providing comprehensive eye exams to patients of all ages, Dr. Richardson has had copious training to help anyone she sees! Her interests include pediatric eye care, binocular vision exams, vision therapy, and myopia management. She is a member of InfantSEE, a program that provides eye exams to children 6-12 months old free of charge. She also has a range of experience in working with neurodivergent patients, Down Syndrome, and other mental and physical health limitations. She strives to be a neuro-affirming healthcare provider, providing a safe space for LGBTQIA+ patients to be heard and welcomed.

In her spare time, Dr. Richardson has enjoyed exploring Michigan with her husband Zach and her dog Loki (maybe someday he can visit the office with Ollie and Vinnie!). She also enjoys cooking, baking, watching movies, and playing board games. If you talk to her about Disney or Harry Potter, it is very likely she will not stop talking. She is always looking for new movie or board game suggestions, so feel free to give her your favorites when you see her for your next eye exam.
